Customer Chief Engineer Safety (m/f/d)


This position has the lead for the development engineering and customer support activities associated with the Safety Electronics projects. This includes all activities associated with Active Safety systems (radars, cameras, Lidars, domain controllers, algorithms, etc.)


This Customer Chief Engineer role plays a critical role in the continued rapid growth of our Customer Safety Electronics business, and, as such, they are seeking a highly capable technologist and engineering leader for this vital development area.


Your Responsibilities:


  • Lead/manage product development (design, resources, risk) execution and achieve schedule timing

  • Drive engineering deliverables to achieve customer development timing commitments

  • Develop/maintain a customer application engineering team with the proper level of capability and critical skills and ensure that quantified engineering budget and headcount needs across competencies and project (ADP, Quote, PDP, and Warranty) are accurate and optimized. Execute hiring as required to meet commitments.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement and re-use in design and development to achieve performance and Material Cost Improvement Process(MCIP) targets.

  • Drive engineering excellence by identifying engineering quality/efficiency improvement opportunities and drive improvements within. Ensure compliance with ADP project development processes and execution of the software transformation.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with potential and existing suppliers and customers; communicate with customer and supplier technical management and work with them to resolve technical or risk issues as needed.

  • Work closely with the Global Product Chief Engineers and Global Competency Chief Engineers to align resources and projects to meet project goals and ensure quotes are doable within budget, resource and technical capability.



Your Profile:


  • B.S. Degree in Engineering (M.S. preferred)

  • Minimum 10 years experience in relevant engineering positions.

  • Automotive Engineering experience required

  • Safety development experience strongly preferred

  • Strong communications skills (oral and written)

  • Ability to earn trust from subordinates, peers and superiors

  • Ability to build a high performing team accountable for results

  • Ability to mentor next generation of leadership
